Dear SeeKers of BiG, Juicy, In-Yer-Face American HoPs:

Firstly, we are doing BREWERY TOURS at our new building beginning ToNiGHT. New tour date/time is THU @ 6 PM. Mark yer calendars. Tell yer friends. Don't be late.

Then on FRI 7/03 we celebrate American Independence with Big Slick American Barley Wine. It's being packaged today so I got a quick nip. WoW! Almost 12% ABV and 100 IBUs. You may want to temper yer palate with some Sockeye Red IPA. I'd suggest Meltdown Double IPA but we're out of that hop-knocker until next week. Regardless...you might want to work yer way up and on over to this baby. You might want to find a comfy seat. You won't want to rush a biGGie like this one. Big Slick will be on the BTG taps but you can buy bottles to go. Wait - what's thaT? I think I hear yer couch calling yer name. Yes, I just heard it again. WoW! I know I already said that but I really, really mean it. If you're a traditionist, pair it with hot dogs, apple pie and baseball. Wrap it all uP with fireworks. Or--if you're like mE...just sit and sip. MmMMmmm. Repeat until U can't sit any longer. DuH.

Big Slick is Grant's 2009 Crew Brew. He named it after the best non-paired hand in Texas Hold'em Poker, an ace and a king. This combo has other nicknames but the best I thought was an Anna Kournikova [A-K, Ace-King] -- looks really good but seldom wins. And whether we're talkin' poker or this barley wine, watch ouT for The Flop. Could be good. Could be bad. Depends on yer back up plan.

Yes, yes, yes...again, again, again...we WILL be open throughout the JULY 4th Holiday weekend. 12 NOON to 8 PM DAILY. We--well, I mean Reid and Meredith--are filling kegs like mad this week. We've also got LoTs of options for growler fills. Besides the usual suspects, we've got Fallen Angel and Cafe A's 10th Anniversary Gruit.

Our Grand Opening was a completely crazy hot mess success. THANKS to aLL of you aLLs for showing up, hanging out, drinking LoTs of beer, taking LoTs of beer "to-go" & doing our very first brewery tours in the new place. We LoVe U!

modern industrial vibe. crazy cool beer.

The latest 2009 Crew Brew:
On FRI 7/03 we begin pouring 6- and 12-oz glasses of Big Slick in the Loft as well as selling 22's "to go".

This kick ass American Barley Wine is all about The Hops— Nugget, Chinook, Simcoe and Centennial. And, yeah, LoTs of ‘em. OK…there’s a substantial malt base on which these juicy Pacific NW hops lie down and do their dirty work. But...maybe that’s too much info.

Grant is the guy who presents and represents MSBC beers out in the field. He is solid+steadfast+diligent. But outside of slinging MSBC beer, Grant is a beast on the baseball field. He aaRggGHs it out with the Fairview Pirates of the Alaska Baseball league
--holds several records in any given week. And then, there’s poker. Grant knows his way around The River. But even he can’t avoid the temptation of a Big Slick. Can U?

BIG SLICK is the best non-paired hand in Texas Hold 'em but veterans advise against betting this combo. But you--I think, YOU--can beat the odds.

Beer/Food Pairing of the Week: OK, so this comes from our newlywed employees, Laura and Jeremiah. They paired homemade pizzas with Uranus Golden Ale with 100% Brettanomyces fermentations. Yes, there is an "s", indicating its plural process--primary fermentation to create alcohol, mainly, and secondary fermentation to create CO2, or carbonation. Anyway, Laura and JB poured this lovely and lively beer to accompany spinach-brie-green apple pizza. YiKers! Mark has a great pizza "do" [this is how Mark spells "dough" in his cooking journal so just play along] recipe. We throw the ingredients -- which, sorry, I do not have here at work -- in the bread machine and then roll it out to make pizzas on the grill. If you have a stone, you can load the dough with toppings at the get-go. If you cook directly on the grill grate, you should toss the rolled-out dough on, let it firm up a bit on both sides. Then spread on the toppings and return to the grill to finish up. The Newlyweds pairing is successful because it brings together earthy-green [spinach], creamy-tangy [brie] and fresh-tart [green apples] with a beer that -- I say -- smells and tastes like green apples and then sweaty horse blanket. Smell it. You will geT iT. It is sO delicious in a wacked-out-funk sorta way. But that's where I LiVe. Maybe you just wanna visit...but you should definitely eXperience this of which I speak--er, write.

Speaking of JB [aka Jeremiah], he just brought me a "short" of Big Slick. Sometimes I really hate my job...NoT! For a "this was supposed to be my vacation day but I didn't get iT all done yesterday so here I am" day, it's not aLL bad. In fact, it is really, really good. But, amigos+amigas, I am now ouT until TUE.

We've got LoTs of FaBuLouS, FRiVoLouS FuN for you this and every season. Come by the NEW brewery. The BeeR is aLways BOLD.

Come early...stay t'eight.

Cheers,
