Hey Seekers of Good Beer for Good Causes:

Last weekend LIQUID SOLUTIONS hosted an online auction of some very special and rare vintage beers. The auction started on FRI 5/9 at 3 PM PT and ended on SUN 5/11 at 3 PM PT. Our LoT FF01 of 4 MSBC beers sold for $479; that's almost $120/22-oz bottle. U Anchor-town folks are oH-sO lucky. Buy NoW; sell HiGH. Or better yet, TauNT yer beer geek friends with your cellar stash. The LoT consisted of these fab beers: "M" oak-aged Belgian-style Barley Wine (released in MAY 2005); Conspiracy Belgian-style Black Beer (released in APR 2007); Berserker oak-aged Imperial Stout (released in JAN 2007) and Arctic Devil Barley Wine (released in NOV 2007). If only MY cellar still housed "M"... This auction benefited the Parkinson Foundation in honor of our late beloved beer advocate/writer Michael Jackson.

In honor of American CRAFT BEER week, we're bringing out the BiG GuNs this FRI 5/16: two Imperial Stouts--Berserker [brewed in 2006] and Sloth [brewed in early 2007]. Due to the limited supply, we'll be tapping these kegs at 5 PM for samples and growler sales. Don't miss ouT.

Starting this FRI 5/16, Cyrano's Off-Center PlayHouse begins a new production: The Time of Your Life, a philosophical comedy--the perfect play for these screwed uP economic-political times. It runs MAY 16 thru JUN 8. The setting is 1939, San Francisco, honky tonk...and the beer flows. If you go, you may get mighty thirsty so grab one of our 22-oz'ers on the way to yer seat. Our 13th Anniverary Beer is all about LoVe and Good MoJo. And, as much as I want to CeLeBRaTe 13, I am already wanting to horde this beer. [I am GLUTTONY afterall...and there is not much of this one.] OK, oh well, I do love you guys, so here goes... Our 13th Anniversary Good MoJo Belgian-style Brown Ale was brewed with sour cherries, then fermented, then blended with a really old [like 7 year-old] barrel of FuNK. And, of course, I mean that in the most loving BeeR GeeK way. You see...a long long time ago, this destined-to-be-wonderful barrel of beer was innoculated with brettanomyces, lacto and pedio, then dosed with berries, then tucked away in a deep dark corner and allowed to slowly yet emphatically do its magic. NoW...this fabulous FuNK is being blended with a fresh Belgian-style brown beer to balance the old with the new, the sour with the sweet, and funk with the fresh. It's like listening to Jonny Lang's gritty, bluesy, bring-that-pure-emotion-all-the-way-up-from-yer-toes passion/voice and seeing a tall, blond, CA surfer dude. Yet another yin-yang. Good MoJo will only be available at the brewery.

Along with the release of Good MoJo Brown, we are setting up a SILENT AUCTION which will run from NOON - 7 PM on FRI 5/30. 100% of monies raised for auction items will be donated to Food Bank of Alaska. [While there are agencies set up to feed kids during the school year, we need to make sure we are feeding kids + families during the summer months as well.] Additionally, bring in a can of food in exchange for a beer sample [up to 7 samples per person although you can donate more food if you wish.] For those of you paying outright for your samples, MSBC will donate sales of samples from 5/30 and 5/31 to FBA. Join us on our "BEER is FOOD" cause...and everyone wins.

The next Planet Beer MERCURY Belgian-style Small Beer will be pre-released at The Anchor Pub & Club on THU 06/05/08 @ 5 PM and released at MSBC on FRI 06/06/08. BUT we're adding a FIRST FLIGHT event to the series: First Flight at First Taste Friday at McGinley's on FRI 06/06/08 5 PM to 8 PM. [I dare you to use more F-words in one sentence, Baby.] Try the FIRST THREE PLANET BEERS--MARS, EARTH, MERCURY--on draft in ONE venue... although I would highly suggest enjoying them in reverse release order for the sake of the 'buds. This is the FIRST FLIGHT of our space program. Meet us @ McGinley's.

If you're a MSBC fan, get over to Sourdough Mining Co. [either with or without houseguests-from-hell in tow] and wash down those slow-cooked BBQ ribs and honey-buttered corn fritters with a pint of Kodiak Brown Ale, Sockeye Red IPA, Midnight Sun Kolsch, Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter or, hell yeah, Oosik Amber Ale! OR..."get paddled": try any four samples for $6.00--served on a paddle, of course.
